In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, USDI undertook a comprehensive response to address the challenges faced by communities in Garissa and neighboring counties. USDI’s initiatives focused on spreading awareness, as well as donating water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) essentials and masks to more than 100,000 beneficiaries in the region.
Outcome 1
Increased Awareness: USDI’s awareness campaigns significantly contributed to an increased understanding of COVID-19 and its preventive measures within the communities. This led to improved adherence to safety protocols and a reduction in infection rates.
Outcome 2
Enhanced Hygiene Practices: The distribution of WASH essentials and educational efforts resulted in improved hygiene practices, positively impacting the overall health and well-being of the beneficiaries.
Outcome 3
Community Resilience: By providing essential items such as masks and hygiene products, USDI contributed to building resilience within communities, helping them navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic.
