Pillar 1 : Human Development, Equity, and Social Wellbeing

Pillar 1 : Human Development, Equity, and Social Wellbeing

This pillar focuses on enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable and marginalized populations through inclusive, rights-based, and community-driven development approaches.

Thematic Areas

  • Health, Nutrition, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH):
USDI promotes access to quality healthcare, maternal and child nutrition, and clean water and sanitation services. Emphasis is placed on preventive health, nutrition education, and behavior change, especially for women and children.
  • Education:
USDI supports access to inclusive and equitable education for all, particularly in underserved and conflict-affected communities. Interventions promote child-friendly learning spaces, climate-resilient school infrastructure, life skills, and gender-sensitive pedagogy.
  • Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI):
Gender equality and inclusion are cross-cutting principles. USDI addresses systemic barriers faced by women, girls, persons with disabilities, and minority groups by promoting leadership, access to resources, and protection from violence and discrimination.
